Westpunt is the far western tip of Curaçao — about an hour from Willemstad, past Coral Estate and Sint Willibrordus, where the road climbs into low hills and the coastline turns wild. Most visitors reach it by car from the south coast.
Grote Knip, Kleine Knip, Playa Kalki and Playa Lagun form a stretch of small, cliff-framed bays on the west coast.
Compared with the south-coast beach areas and Willemstad, Westpunt is quieter and focused on beaches, diving and Christoffel National Park.

The atmosphere
A day on the west coast.
Morning
Quiet early in the day. Grote Knip is about ten minutes away and the water is usually calmest in the morning.
Afternoon
The beaches are busier at weekends than midweek. Lunch options include Bahia Inn and Jaanchies, with shade under the sea-grape trees.
Sunset
The bays face west, so Playa Kalki and the Watamula point look into the sunset.
Evening
Evenings are quiet. A handful of restaurants stay open until about ten; there is little else after that.

Kleine Knip
A smaller crescent beach about five minutes south of Grote Knip, with shade trees and calm shallow water.
Playa Kalki
A small white-sand beach on the north-western tip, beside the Alice in Wonderland dive site, with a dive shop and snack bar. Snorkelling and diving are available from the shore.
Playa Lagun
A small fishing-village bay between cliffs. Fishing boats are pulled up on the right; the left-hand wall is an established snorkelling and diving spot.
Cas Abao
South of Westpunt, halfway back to Willemstad. Long white sand, a beach restaurant, loungers and an entrance fee.

Mushroom Forest
Mushroom-shaped coral heads in shallow water. A boat dive about fifteen minutes from Westpunt.

Alice in Wonderland
Two long parallel reefs descending in tiers off Playa Kalki, at moderate depth.

Watamula
The far north-west point, with strong currents and steep walls. For experienced divers. Boats depart from Westpunt harbour.

Playa Lagun wall
A shore dive or snorkel along the wall off the left-hand cliff, at shallow depth.

Snorkelling at Playa Kalki
Enter from the beach; coral begins in shallow water a short swim from the shore. No boat is required.
Nature
Christoffel Park, Shete Boka and the wild north coast.
Christoffel Park and Shete Boka are both accessible from Westpunt. Early visits avoid the hottest part of the day.
Christoffel Park
Christoffel National Park, with marked trails through divi-divi and cactus landscape and a 375-metre peak. Check current opening hours before visiting.
Shete Boka
The north coast just east of Westpunt: volcanic rock, blowholes, surf against the cliffs and a coastal walking trail.
Watamula sinkhole
A circular collapse in the cliffs at the far north-western tip, a short walk from the parking area.
Flamingos at Sint Willibrordus
About twenty minutes south. Flamingos are often seen at the salt pans from the road along the lagoon.

Local, simple, and a drive south when you want more.
Westpunt isn't a restaurant district. A handful of local kitchens, fresh fish off the boats, and the better cliffside dinners are twenty-five minutes south at Coral Estate.
